These boats are made from vacuum moulded, heat treated epoxy glass and carbon
kevlar and are far higher quality in every way than boats made from normal
fibreglass. Kevlar is normally used in the manufacture of bullet
proof vests!

Panther 46. 1165mm long (46"). Very
fast and stable circuit racing and FSRO mono V boat for Zenoah gas
engines.. The Panther is a competition boat for racing with other boats in
the oval and offshore classes but is a great fun boat and will make the
other gas boats look like snails in comparison. Compared to our
older racing boat the Lynx, the Panther 46 is wider at the front for
smoother/safer cornering, longer rails for high speed stability, less V
angle at the rear and much less V at the
front, this stops 'chine walking' and improves stability everywhere making
the Panther very forgiving at high speed and combined with the rail design
at the front lets the boat go smoothly through the corners without losing
too much speed and without getting upset by the wash from other boats. The Panther also has small chine
rails only at the front and a flatter chine line at the front to prevent
diving (submarining) in choppy water/race conditions. click

| Do
not confuse these boats with normal fibreglass boats. These are top
quality lightweight epoxy mouldings made with up to 5 layers of glass or
4 layers of glass one of
carbon and kevlar and slow setting epoxy resin which means no distortion, no gel coat cracks
and they are VERY strong. These boats are hand laid up in the ceramic mould. The mould and moulding are
vacuum bagged and left in an oven for 16 hours at 50C and then
postcured at 25C for 24 hours after removal from the mould.
They are then joined with kevlar or Glass and again cured overnight
in the oven. This makes for an incredibly strong, stiff and
lightweight racing boat. Carbon kevlar is incredibly difficult to
damage. |
